Finding a
Groove
We begin our first
full year and play 7 gigs. We become the house band for the PeopleSoft
Quarterly meetings, a gig that showcases our ability to play for free beer and
food. We also rock at one of the best parties we've ever been party to: The
PeopleSoft "Tires to Tahoe" bash on the top of Squaw Valley resort. Transported
all the gear to the top of the mountain via cable car. The entire party is
thrown out at 3 am as 300 people congo from the dance floor to the last cable
cars down to the tune of "Gimme, Gimme Some Lovin" which we play over and over
about 8 times until all the people are off the mountain and we
collapse!
In 1993 we lose our
first band members Maire Hanley, who moves to Ireland (but not before coining
the group name that would stick -- "The Raving Daves"); and Rich Julius, who
makes one of the worst financial decisions in his life and joins Oracle ...
even though we remain tight friends with Rich (and play at his wedding two
years later), he is out of the band for such a heinous act.
