Sweet Temptation

1995 proves to be a prolific year for The Raving Daves. Whether we were in need of more jams to balance a 100% growth software company or were just having loads of fun, it's anyone's guess. But in 1995 we play 16 gigs including our biggest to date, opening for The Temptations at the UNLV Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bash was the annual party night for COMDEX and in attendance were none other than Gates, Ellison, etc ... Paul Allen's (co-founder of Microsoft) band also played. He had Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics sitting in on guitar. We didn't need no stinking ringer to rock. And rock we did. Our first experience with stadium-quality sound gear. As usual, we were booted off the stage for playing past our allotted time slot!

Drummers drop like flies as Mick and Bob move on, and founding bassist Glede hangs it up, leaving Baer and Eric as the only surviving original Daves. Folia moves into satellite -- still singin' with the band on and off for the next 4 years, but no longer a full-time member. The best is yet to come, though, as "Captain" Dan McIntosh joins on bass along with yet another drummer willing to risk life and limb, Scotty Colner. Around Gig # 27, Janis Weiss adds her vocals and Rick Frank arrives from Philly to play lead riffs on guitar. Finally, Dean Detton joins the crew to crank the sound up a notch.
