History - 1996

The Year of the Jam

The Daves keep slammin' and jammin' through 1996. We return to Pier 41 for a band party and going-away celebrations for a couple of fans, Mustang Norma Penson and EuroTrash Girl Andrea Austin who are both leaving the country (for reasons obvious to close friends ... ); it's also at the Pier 41 gig that Baer "Naked" Tierkel earns his nickname (sorry, no photos available) ...

In one of our most memorable performances ever, we do the PeopleSoft Conference in San Diego, opening for Dick Bright's SRO in front of 8,000 people -- 20-foot-high video screens with live band close-ups on either side of the huge, sprawling stage, stadium-level equipment, and rockin' to the rhythm of computerized light shows! What a kick.

We lose yet another drummer as Scott grooves to Amsterdam. We find Mark "The Wolf" Mark Fletcher on the skins to perform death-defying drumming in The Raving Daves. We lose Dean to his interest in martial arts, but gain Dan "MixMaster" Williams on the mixing boards -- and he has an actual degreee in audio engineering ...
